(¨*•. Descendants of Arcos Excerpt .•*¨)
PRESENT DAY
What have I done?
What have we done?
She's never going to forgive me...
Our sole mission was to wipe Arcos and his descendants from the face of the planet – for the common good of humanity. End the evil. But, we couldn't accomplish that mission without hurting the one person who mattered the most to us; our queen, Xandra Kallan.
“Why did you let her leave?” Marietta ran up to scream in my face, her tan skin beet red. I stood to my feet, dusting off the dirt and gravel from my pants.
“She'll come around. She just needs time,” I replied with all the confidence I could gather.
But of course, Marietta, knew when I was lying –the bitch could read me like a fucking book. “Time?” She cocked her head sideways. “We don't have time; the President will wring our necks if we don't follow her, now! Where the fuck is your head at, Agent Grant?” She asked, stabbing her cat-like fingernails into my shoulder. I groaned as I looked down to her.
“Calm your ass down, I have a tracking device inside the phone I gave her. She ain't going anywhere far without us knowing about it. So, you can unbunch your damn panties, all right?”
"All right, genius.” Marietta waved her hands in the air. “I'll be waiting in the car. We need to find her ASAP; she plays an imperative role in our master plan.” The bitch glared at me before turning on her heel to storm off.
I sighed knowing she was right. It had to be done. For the common good of humanity, I reminded myself. That instant, my phone disguised as sunglasses beeped, and the president's voice sounded next to my left ear.
“Care to explain why in the hell you allowed our queen to fly the coop, Agent Grant?” I walked out of the street to let cars pass, and found a spot away from the tires kicking up dirt. I shifted my weight to one side. Hearing the president's voice always made me a little uneasy; I never let anyone in on this, though.
“I have a better plan, Mr. President.” The plan I had in mind was risky, but it was guaranteed to work. Unfortunately, I would be putting the woman I loved in danger. Again.
“I knew I could count on you, Agent Grant.”
